BREWER

Cabin Brewing Company is an award-winning brewery located in the Manchester brewing area in Calgary, Alberta. We produce fun, innovative beer styles, with a strong focus on quality. We are looking for a hard-working, experienced, creative brewer to help us produce quality, consistent products. We are looking for a brewer who will report to and work alongside the Head Brewer and Production Manager. We are looking for someone who is available for 4 x 10 hour shifts that will run Thursday - Sunday, and may include evenings.

DUTIES INCLUDE:

  • Raw materials handling, wort production, spent grain removal, cellaring, product transfers, carbonating, dry hopping, fermentation monitoring, yeast handling, clarification, keg washing & sanitizing, CIP and general cleaning and sanitation.

  • Packaging product into kegs and assistance with canning as needed.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Executing the necessary production duties for wort production, fermentation management and bright beer handling.

  • Ensuring that all beer is produced to qualitative and quantitative specifications.

  • Maintaining detailed and accurate records in relation to all duties.

  • Maintaining a clean and sanitized work area to ensure quality of the highest standard.

  • Representing Cabin at tasting events from time to time.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Able to lift up to 25kg from the ground to shoulder height repeatedly.

  • Able to move up to 65kg with the assistance of a dolly.

  • Able to work in a hot, humid, noisy environment, and stand for extended periods.

  • Able to work safely with chemicals and motorized equipment with appropriate supplied PPE.

  • Comfortable climbing and handling raw materials on a ladder.

OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE IS:

  • Experienced in wort production on a commercial scale.

  • Passionate about beer, possesses a strong knowledge of brewing theory and beer styles, and is trained in the sensory aspects of beer (BJCP/Cicerone).

  • Highly attentive to detail and is able to multitask effectively.

  • A good communicator.

  • Not afraid to make suggestions on process efficiencies or improvements.

  • Able to work both independently and as part of a team.

  • Willing to continue to increase brewing knowledge through continuing education such as books, seminars or conferences.

  • Able to work early mornings, evenings and/or weekends as necessary.

  • Forklift certified.

Salary range: $45,000 - $60,000 annually based on experience.
